There’s a little rock-n-roll in every plumber. Just look at Ozzy Osbourne! At the age of 15, Osbourne was learning the trade as an apprentice. He wouldn’t ultimately remain a plumber, but it’s clear his determination and tenacity served him well on the job.
2. Michael Caine
The Dark Knight co-star Sir Michael Caine was a plumbing assistant upon returning from the Korean War. Before appearing on the big screen, the 2-time academy award winner had a hand in unclogging main drains and repairing water leaks.
3. John Gotti
Not everyone on this list is the conventional plumber. Take for example mobster John Gotti, head of the Gambino crime family. Once upon a time, Gotti was a plumbing salesman for Arc Plumbing and Heating Corporation. Or so it would seem. As it turned out, his position with Arc Plumbing was a front for his racketeering lifestyle. He allegedly used his position to scout out locations for where the crime family could “conduct business.”
4. Joe Cocker
World-renowned musician Joe Cocker quit school at the age of 16. His mother invested heavily in plumbing books with the intention of Cocker becoming a burgeoning young plumbing professional. Into adulthood, he worked as a gas plumber by day while performing music in local clubs in the evening.
5. James Denton
James Denton was the fictional character on Desperate Housewives. The scandalous television plumber was a staple in the series and had quite the adventurous spirit.
6. Mario
This list of the most famous plumbers of all time wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Mario Brothers. Mario and Luigi first appeared in 1981 in the arcade game Donkey Kong. The characters have gone on to appear in numerous video games, TV shows, films, and more.
